Message I recently dealt with this back in November- January. You can fight it but they are going to try and screw you at every corner anyway they can.

I dealt with the guys insurance who hit me (all-state) and they initially offered me 6,800 before buyback but i eventually got them up to 11,000.

For abridged notes the most important things are.

-Never accept a check from them, until you are settled on the final number.

-They are going to tear apart your car on every little thing, for mine: a small tear in the drivers seat $300 reduction in value, busted fog light -$150. This is the first place to fight them if your fog light did need to be replaced go find the cheapest price one and show them the proof it is only $30. Every deduction they try to make against your car you need to fight both the fact it's there and the deduction amount.

-Next you need to fight for the un-adjusted value of your car. This is the value they use before making additions or subtractions. Do lots of research, you need to make sure every car that is being used to compare in order to set the value is exactly like yours. Make sure they are all the same year as yours, make sure they are all original twinturbo's, make sure they are all manual transmissions, leather seats etc etc.(you will probably only end up with 3-5 comparable cars)

-Now that you have comparable vehicles you need to attack their condition. If that car has paint chips you need to know about it, call the seller wherever they are in the country and see if it's been in wreck, check to see if they have every maintenance record dating back forever. The more things you find out wrong with the comparable vehicles the higher value you will get for yours.

-Lastly don't worry about fighting the buyback value to the very end. Then once your almost all done ask for the insurance company to re-asses the buyback value. This usually means a separate salvage yard will do the appraisal, which is good because they will put a $ number on the car instead of percentage. So you should gain back some money you lost as the insurance company jacked up jacked up the buyback price as you raised the value of the car to them.

I know my grammar in this writing was probably terrible but i was in a rush. Send me an email at william.haley.1451@gmail.com as there is lots of little things that will make the whole thing get easier.
